This Privacy Policy sets out the rules for the processing of personal data and for the use of cookies when using the website of the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition in Katowice.

  •  What data do we process?

Depending on how the website is used, we may process:

  • data provided in the forms available on the website,
  • contact data,
  • data provided in documents relating to the Competition,
  • data necessary to carry out the registration process,
  • technical data relating to the use of the website (e.g. IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers),
  • information stored in cookies.

We process personal data primarily for the purposes of:

  • organising and conducting the Competition,
  • handling participants’ applications,
  • contacting users of the website,
  • publishing information concerning the Competition and its results,
  • documenting and promoting the Competition,
  • ensuring the proper functioning of the website,
  • compiling statistics on the use of the website,
  • complying with obligations arising from legal provisions,
  • the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
  • On what legal basis do we process data?

We process personal data in accordance with Article 6(1)(b), (c), (e) and (f) of the GDPR, as appropriate to the purpose of the processing.

Where legal provisions require consent to be obtained, data will also be processed on the basis of the consent given.

  • To whom may we disclose data?

Personal data may be disclosed to entities cooperating with the Controller in the organisation of the Competition, in particular to entities providing IT, hosting, accounting, legal, postal, courier, banking, hotel and transport services, and to other entities supporting the organisation of the Competition.

Data may also be disclosed to persons involved in the organisation and conduct of the Competition, including the members of the Qualification Committee and of the Jury, and to the competent public authorities where the obligation to disclose the data arises from legal provisions.

  •  Transfers of data outside the European Economic Area

Where personal data are transferred to third countries or international organisations, we ensure the appropriate safeguards required by the GDPR.

  •  How long do we store data?

We store personal data for the period arising from legal provisions and from the rules on the classification and qualification of documentation applicable at the Controller, and for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which they were collected.

  •  What rights does the user have?

Every data subject has the right to:

  • access to their data,
  • rectification of data,
  • restriction of processing,
  • object to processing – in the cases provided for by law,
  • erasure of data – where legal provisions so permit,
  • lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

The current version of the Privacy Policy is always published on the Competition’s website.
